5 Wedding Tips for All Brides
Tip #1. Get your engagement ring cleaned before your wedding day!
For months now you have worn that glittering rock everywhere you go , and as you wear it through your day to day, your lovely ring is picking up dirt, pizza sauce, makeup, and everything else you have touched during your engagement! Getting your ring cleaned usually takes less than a week and is well worth it! You’ll get that gorgeous blinding sparkle every bride deserves on her wedding day, and your photographer will be able to get clean crisp images for you!
Tip #2. Put together a box of details!
Weddings take hours and hours to plan and it would be a crying shame for all that work to be lost and forgotten! That is why, I ask all my brides to put together a little box of wedding details that they want to be photographed. Slip your wedding invitation, rings, something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, flowers, gifts, letters, jewelry, perfume, shoes…etc. into the box and have it ready for your photographer when she arrives to photograph your big day!
Tip #3. Do a first look with your dad.
Whether he will admit it or not, his little girl’s wedding day is one of the most emotional days in a man’s life. Brides who have never seen their dad cry before have seen tears welling up in his eyes when he sees his daughter as a bride. It’s a truly emotional and sweet time between you two and can’t be recreated!
Tip #4. Plan. Plan. Plan. Enjoy!
Organization and planning is so important before your wedding day. Colors, dresses, timelines, guest counts, table seating charts, catering, backup rain plans, and all the things make the day go smoothly. Getting those details squared away before hand leaves you the entire day of your wedding to truly celebrate your own love story. Wake up, drink a mimosa and have a blast with your girls! If the plans are in place everything will happen and you will actually enjoy your wedding!
Tip #5. Things happen.
Having been to a ton of weddings in my career, the best advice I can give you as a bride on your wedding day is to let go of your expectation of how the day is “supposed” to go and let it be how it is. All the weddings I have been in or photographed or attended are similar in that two people vow to love each other forever and different in style, tradition, family and a thousand other things. Not everything is in your control and the perfect storm of heightened emotions, a thousand moving parts, cakes melting and two year old flower girls can cause a little stress. Let it go, love on your people, celebrate your story and dance it out! I am sure you have heard this a million times already, but if at the end of the day you get to marry your best friend then everything else is just icing on the cake, and I love cake.
Good luck! <3
