Read More“And darling I will be loving you 'til we're 70
And baby my heart could still fall as hard at 23
And I'm thinking 'bout how people fall in love in mysterious ways
Maybe just the touch of a hand
Oh me I fall in love with you every single day
And I just wanna tell you I am
So honey now
Take me into your loving arms
Kiss me under the light of a thousand stars
Place your head on my beating heart
I'm thinking out loud
Maybe we found love right where we are” ~Ed Sheeran
This amazing family was my very first family photo session four years ago! Every step of the way they have encouraged me and pushed forward! Every now and then this beautiful Momma drops a card in the mail or shoots a quick message reminding me that I am doing a great job and that I am brave enough! I couldn't ask for better nor could I love them more!
Read MoreH and N have to top the charts for the cutest couple around! This engagement session is close to my heart since N and I have been friends since high school... We are the type of friends who talk almost never, but pick up right where we had left off as though no time has passed! The type of friends who ask about the heart rather than the weather. Over the last year or so I have had the honor of hearing N's heart for H grow and change! It has been a beautiful adventure and I CANNOT wait for this wedding in Nashville, TN in August!
Read MoreIt was 3:00 a.m. when my little sister Julianna and I crawled out of bed, slung our backpacks and camera bag into the backseat of my VW Jetta and headed for the mountains. It is absolutely ridiculous to get up that early, drive a few hours, hike a mile or two, and sit on a on big rock to watch the sun rise over your birthday... But what can I say... That's all I wanted. I wanted to see the way God painted the sky on that morning... on that trail... on that mountain. I am twenty-three years old as of yesterday.
Read MoreI won't be holding my breath for chariots
I'm not just waiting for skies to part
You've been my glimpse of Kingdom right from the start
And you got me touching heaven, ooo
Got me touching heaven, ooo
She is the sweetest thing that I know
You should see the way she holds me when the lights go low
Shakes my soul like a pot hole, every time
Took my heart upon a one way trip
Guess she went wandering off with it
Unlike most women I know
This one will bring it back whole
Daisies, daisies perched upon your forehead
Oh my baby, lately I know
Hi! It's me. Your very own friendly photographer here to give you a little peek into my world as a artist... as Katie... and as a fellow human. If we are to be true friends... the kind that never looses touch with each other...

Wherever it goes I always know
That you make me smile, please, stay for a while now
Just take your time wherever you go”

Read MoreBaby, I'm dancing in the dark with you between my arms
Barefoot on the grass, listening to our favorite song
When you said you looked a mess, I whispered underneath my breath
But you heard it, darling, you look perfect tonight

Ok, ok... WE are not having a baby exactly... BUT my sister Jessica and her husband are going to have a little one in September! He or she will be the first little one wandering around our world and I could NOT be more excited about everything that means!!!!!!!!
Read MoreAll my sessions are special to me. It is a magical thing to spend an hour or so with people who love each other so entirely... so beautifully... so whole-heartedly... This session took my breath away! I won't lie, I arrived to the shoot a little discouraged due to a dark sky and a bit of rain. It felt like a gamble and I desperately didn't want to disappoint these two lovely souls, but the clouds held their rain...
Read MoreNew experiences thrill my very soul! I have a tendency to leap when given the opportunity to go somewhere or do something that I have never done before. So when my cousin in northern Michigan proposed the idea of photographing the home birth of her fifth baby I unhesitatingly said, "Yes!" I had never been present for a birth before, nor had I spent much time thinking about childbirth... at all... Actually I didn't even think it about it at the time.
Read MoreValentine's Day this year looked different for me than it ever has in the past! I spent the evening walking through the red light district in Patong Phuket handing out flowers to women hanging off poles. Why?
Read MoreIt was snowing in Chicago when an airplane with me and two friends on it bound for Thailand took flight last Sunday afternoon! As I sit here in sweating in Phuket, Thailand; it is a little funny to think about how chilly I was in those frozen moments between the car and the airport that day.
Read MoreI have really been missing the sun and my Georgia sky! Sunsets bring so much joy into the closing of a day and I have missed the colors thrown around me every evening. The grey sky and snow and cold has been pushing me down a bit lately, and I have been struggling to keep a positive outlook on it all!
Read MoreThe year 2017 began on the border of Thailand in a little hotel. Unable to cross the border until morning, my mission team and I settled in for a few hours of sleep before we would become our own pack mules to walk across the border into Myanmar. Last year was a truly remarkable one. Having shot in seven countries and fourteen different states I feel as though it flew by...
Read MoreThe Christmas of 2017 is labeled in my mind as the whitest of Christmas' It was truly magical to disconnect from everyone except my family for a few days as we disappeared into the spruce forest - winter wonderland of Montana. My aunt and uncle gave us a lovely little cabin guarded by an Native American Head (on the door) on their property between the cows and chickens where we would make our home for the holiday.
